In 15th century France, a war-weary nation, a 14-year-old farm girl named Joan of Arc claims to receive divine instructions to lead an army against Orleans and crown the weak Dauphin Charles VII as King. With unwavering faith, she rallies the people and conquers Orleans, only to have her army halted and dismissed by Charles, who surrenders to England. Joan is subsequently arrested, sold to the Burgundians, and put on trial in Rouen castle.
