Captain Kyle Cameron, a Canadian commander, clashes with his British superiors after his reckless decision to attack Afghan guerrillas in the Khyber Pass results in heavy losses. Unbeknownst to him, the guerrillas are secretly funded by the Russians, who aim to spark a border incident to justify an invasion of Afghanistan. Cameron joins forces with the plotters, including Captain Ahmed Shir and Prince Ishak Kahn, and works to sabotage their plans from within. His efforts ultimately lead to his reinstatement and a romantic relationship with the Colonel's daughter, whose fiancé was killed in the initial battle.
