Charley, a young girl, and her loyal dog Fuzz form an unbreakable bond. Charley longs for new friendships and finds companionship with Alonzo, a gruff old farmer, and Carol Evans. However, Carol's wealthy and prejudiced mother rejects Charley, leaving her feeling down. Despite this, Charley finds joy in her friendship with Fritz and their fun times together. When Carol invites Charley to her birthday party, Charley is thrilled, but her excitement is short-lived as Carol's mother forbids her from attending, citing that she wouldn't fit in with the other guests. Devastated, Charley's spirits are lifted when Alonzo faces a life-threatening crisis and Charley and Fuzz risk everything to save him.
