A group of aspiring performers trying to put on a low-budget Broadway show are aided by a resourceful expert thief, Harpo, who secretly provides them with sustenance. However, unbeknownst to the group, Harpo's generosity is fueled by a valuable treasure - the Romanoff diamonds hidden in a sardine can. As the diamonds' rightful owner, Madame Egelichi, and her goons pursue them, the Marx Brothers embark on a thrilling and comedic adventure to evade capture.
