In the film, a TV reporter named Vinod "Guddu" Shukla from Mathura falls for a headstrong woman named Rashmi Trivedi. Guddu proposes marriage, but Rashmi suggests a live-in relationship instead. They decide to test the arrangement when their traditional families mistakenly assume they're already married and start living with them.
