Drifter Will Parker arrives in the small town of Whitney, seeking a fresh start after five years in prison for a crime he claims he didn't commit. He meets Emily Dinsmore, a pregnant widow with two young sons, who is advertising for a husband. Despite initial reservations, Will helps Emily improve her situation and forms a bond with her children. However, his past soon catches up with him when he's accused of murdering a local woman.
