In London, a sculptor named Ivan Igor is devastated when his partner burns down his wax museum, killing his creations. He later starts anew in New York, but is limited by his maimed hands, which force him to direct other artists. As people begin to vanish, including a corpse from the morgue, Igor becomes obsessed with Charlotte, the fiancée of his assistant Ralph, while also drawing the suspicion of Charlotte's roommate, a wisecracking reporter named Florence.
