Ellen orders a mask from Rome to overcome her fertility issues with her husband William. After receiving a wrong mask, she believes the Nightmare Man is haunting her and demands medication to keep him at bay. However, doctors diagnose her with paranoid schizophrenia. As she's driven to a remote asylum, the car breaks down, and William leaves her to walk to a nearby gas station. Alone, Ellen is attacked by the Nightmare Man but escapes into the woods, finding refuge with Mia, who contacts William, who dismisses Ellen's claims, deciding not to involve the police.
