Northwest Rangers background

Northwest Rangers

Childhood friends from the same town embark on different journeys, one choosing a life of duty as a Royal Canadian Mountie, while the other pursues a life of thrill and danger as a charismatic gambler.

Blackie Marshall and Jim Gardiner grew up together in the Canadian west, adopted by a Northwest Mounted Police officer after their parents were killed. Their childhood games predicted their adult paths: Jim became a Mountie, while Blackie became a professional gambler. Blackie's life took a turn when he was swindled as a child by casino owner Martin Caswell, leading him to take revenge by taking over the Topaz Casino. As Jim and Blackie's lives diverged, their loyalty to each other was tested, particularly when Jim fell in love with Blackie's girlfriend, singer Jean Avery, and Caswell sought to regain control of the Topaz.
