A real estate agent named Knock sends his associate Hutter to Transylvania to sell a house to a mysterious Count Orlok. While there, Hutter begins to notice strange occurrences and becomes convinced that the Count is a vampire. As the Count makes his way back to Wisborg, a series of mysterious deaths occurs, which are attributed to the plague. Hutter tries to rush back to save his town and his wife Ellen, who is unaware of the danger approaching.
