As a nurse tends to a silent actress, the lines between their roles become increasingly distorted, leaving them struggling to distinguish between the real world and the world of fantasy.

A novice nurse, Alma, is tasked with caring for Elisabeth Vogler, an actress who appears physically well but has stopped speaking. As they spend time together, Alma engages Elisabeth in conversation, only to receive no response. Eventually, Alma opens up to Elisabeth, who seems understanding, but discovers her own identity being consumed by Elisabeth's.
