Tony Petersen, a former footballer and electrician, enrolls in university to study English, finding himself out of place among his peers. He receives guidance from a professor's wife, a beautiful lecturer, in her office, where their meetings become routine. Meanwhile, the professor is secretly dating one of his students. Petersen and the professor's wife discuss having a child, but her acceptance of an Oxford appointment sparks his outrage.
