In 1958, 21-year-old Rose Pamphyle, engaged to marry the son of a mechanic, feels trapped in a dull, predictable life. But when she interviews for a secretary job at a Normandy insurance agency, her typing skills impress the charismatic boss, Louis Echard. To get the job, Rose must participate in a speed typing competition, which Louis agrees to train her for, aiming to make her the fastest typist in the world.
