In 1933 Stuttgart, an unlikely friendship blossoms between two boys from contrasting backgrounds, unaware of the profound differences between them until later. One is the son of a wealthy Jewish doctor, while the other is the offspring of a German aristocrat. As anti-semitism gains momentum after Hitler's election, their lives take a dramatic turn. Years later, the Jewish man returns to his childhood home, seeking his old friend, and discovers some unexpected surprises.
