Kamal, a talented dancer, strives to perform at an All-India competition, but his dream is crushed when his mother passes away. He eventually sacrifices his love for a married woman, Jayaprada, and becomes a drunkard. Years later, Jayaprada's husband passes away, and she takes care of Kamal, who is dying, asking him to teach dance to her daughter. The film concludes with the daughter becoming a great dancer and Kamal's death, conveying the message that "There is no end to art".
