Paul Reed, a candidate for Governor of Vermont, faces a personal crisis when his wife dies in a car accident on election day. Left to care for his 13-year-old step-daughter, Maggie, Paul returns to his family farm, a place he hasn't visited in five years. As he tries to come to terms with his loss and his new responsibilities, Paul is forced to confront the reasons he abandoned his family in the first place and decide whether his political ambitions are worth sacrificing his family and his own integrity.
