Charles Sobhraj, a man with a French passport, lived in Paris with two wives and two daughters for seven years before being arrested in Katmandu, Nepal in 2003. He was accused of committing two murders 26 years prior and has been labeled as a serial killer, escape artist, and liar. Despite being accused of 50 murders, Sobhraj was never convicted and spent 20 years in an Indian jail, where he became the don and befriended Islamic terrorist leaders. After his release, he obtained French nationality and turned to arms dealing, supplying weapons to the Taliban and other groups.
