Inspired by Georges Seurat's painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, the movie follows a fictionalized Seurat as he becomes deeply absorbed in creating his masterpiece, while his great-grandson, a conflicted and cynical contemporary artist, grapples with his own creative identity.
