In a top-secret Alaskan facility, a Cold War secret remains hidden. A meteorite substance, ICE-10, has anti-matter properties, making it a doomsday material capable of destroying the world. Designed as a last resort weapon, it's stored in the far north where the cold keeps it contained. A military plane is sent to retrieve a small sample, but a crash releases the material, annihilating a Canadian town.
