In late 19th century England, a Russian émigré, Yanko Goorall, is the sole survivor of a shipwreck and finds refuge on a farm. Despite initial fear from the locals, kind-hearted servant Amy Foster befriends Yanko, who becomes like a son to the farm's doctor. As Yanko recovers, a romance blossoms between him and Amy.
