The Big Land background

The Big Land

In the tumultuous post-Civil War era, a resilient Kansas rancher faces treacherous weather and cunning traders while endeavoring to construct a railroad to the Rio Grande.

After the Civil War, bitter feelings persisted between Southerners and Northerners. Former Confederates from Texas drove their herds to Missouri to supply eastern cities with beef. Chad Morgan, a former Confederate officer, and his partners arrived at a Missouri rail-head, where they were offered a low price by corrupt buyer Brog and his partner.
