After their parents' tragic death, a young girl named Penny takes on the responsibility of caring for her terminally ill sister Mary. Despite Penny's struggles to make ends meet through prostitution, Mary's determination to inspire hope in her sister leads her to create a book of poetry, "Book of Stars". With the help of a professor, Mary secretly corresponds with a prisoner, who is inspired by Penny's childhood poetry. The book brings Mary's wishes to life, but ultimately, it is Penny who must come to terms with Mary's passing and find the strength to move forward, fueled by the love and trust between the two sisters.
