Danny Flynn, a 19-year-old involved with the I.R.A. in Belfast, is imprisoned and leaves behind his family and 16-year-old girlfriend Maggie Hamill. 14 years later, he's released and returns to his neighborhood to resume his life as a boxer, opening a nonsectarian boxing club for aspiring boxers.
