On the tense border between North and South Korea, soldiers patrol the coast, with each rank bullying those below. During a routine patrol, Private First Class Kang and his friend Private Kim are mocked by drinking youths. Two nights later, Kang is ordered to open fire on an intruder in the border zone, but it's a young man, from the earlier encounter, on a drunken tryst with his girlfriend Mi-yeong.
