Abe Saperstein, the owner of the Harlem Globetrotters, selects Billy Townsend, an All-American player, for his team on the condition that he finishes his education.

Abe Saperstein, owner of the Harlem Globetrotters, signs Billy Townsend, an All-American, to play for the team. Despite advice to finish school, Billy quits college and joins the Globetrotters, becoming a star. He gets married and injured, leading to his firing. After a heart-to-heart talk with his wife, Billy asks to rejoin the Globetrotters, invalidating a big-money contract with another team.
