Evans, the first actor to run a film studio, began his career in 1956 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. He was discovered by screen legend Norma Shearer, who offered him a film role. After a brief acting career, Evans turned to producing and, at 34, became chief of production at Paramount Pictures, where he oversaw iconic films like The Godfather, Rosemary's Baby, and Chinatown.
