Joe Jonathan, a reformed ex-con, owns a dance-band booking agency, but faces police scrutiny due to the former owner's racketeering tactics. A young hoodlum, Bits McKirk, tries to blackmail Joe, but is won over and joins his business. However, when the former owner is paroled and tries to extort protection money from Joe's clients, Bits begins to backslide, causing tension in Joe's life and relationship with his girlfriend, Jessie Lee.
