In 1955, Bettie Page is summoned to testify before a US Senate sub-committee investigating the impact of pornography on American youth. The film flashes back to her childhood in Tennessee, a brief marriage, a traumatic gang rape, and her 1949 move to New York City. There, she takes acting lessons, models for photos, and stars in adult films, earning the nickname "The Pin-Up Queen of the Universe". We see her relationships with photographers and boyfriends, as well as her wholesome, sporty, and straightforward persona, until a turning point that marks her descent from innocence.
