Amsterdam family banker Walraven van Hall secretly finances the Dutch resistance by creating fake credits, risking his own life and fortune. As the war intensifies, he forges a network between resistance groups and exceeds the guaranteed sum. However, the Germans and collaborators launch a massive operation to catch the "underground bank".
