Haven D. Allridge, editor-in-chief of the News-Intelligencer newspaper, learns about the corruption of Bridgewood County Sheriff K.C. Burke and his associates after being unfairly treated by the law. After experiencing corruption firsthand, Haven begins a media campaign against Burke and his associates, compiling a dossier of corruption within the county. However, Burke fights back against Haven and the newspaper, and the case becomes complicated when the state's attorney general's office gets involved.
