A young plant manager, Brad Adams, is dispatched to a small New Hampshire manufacturing facility to revitalize labor dynamics and optimize operations, only to discover a tangled web of romance unfolding around him.

The town of Eaton Falls, New Hampshire, is faced with the closure of its last major manufacturing employer, Doubleday Plastics, after the factory's owner, Daniel Doubleday, passes away. His wife, Helen, decides not to sell the company, instead choosing Brad Adams, the factory's Chief of Machine Maintenance and President of the Plastics Workers Union Local 145, as the new company President. Brad must navigate the difficult task of balancing the company's needs with those of its employees, while also dealing with the challenges of modernizing the factory, paying off bank loans, and finding new contracts to sell inventory.
