Thermae Romae II background

Thermae Romae II

A Roman architect discovers a talent for time travel, using ancient bathhouses as a gateway to modern-day Japan, causing chaos and cultural conflicts in his wake.

In ancient Rome, architect Lucius becomes famous for designing the original "thermae" (bathhouse) but faces challenges when tasked with building one in the Colosseum to aid wounded gladiators. He travels through time to modern-day Japan, where he reunites with a reporter who helps him design a new thermae with the aid of the flat-faced Japanese tribe. Meanwhile, Emperor Hadrian and the Senate clash over the thermae's purpose, causing Rome to become divided.
