When her brother is killed in a mysterious explosion of a new field gun, Irene Eaton travels to Washington D.C. to plead with Colonel Shaw, head of Army Military Intelligence, to investigate the incident. As part of a series of recent sabotage acts by a foreign gang, Shaw tasks Irene with uncovering the gang's identity and leaders, sending her to the Dome Cafe, their suspected headquarters.
