In the "Topa Topa" district, a naturalist named Tom Turner falls for a widow named Margaret Weston, much to the dismay of fur-trapper Pete Taylor, who has his own romantic designs on her. When Pete's partner accuses him of theft, Pete's anger boils over and he kills the man, then frames a wolf named Silver Wolf for the crime.
