Twins Viola and Sebastian are torn apart by a shipwreck, with Viola landing in Illyria and disguising herself as her brother to serve the Duke Orsino. Orsino tasks her with wooing Lady Olivia, who initially rejects him, but begins to fall for the new messenger. As chaos ensues with the arrival of Viola's brother, Olivia's uncle and his cohorts plot to take revenge on her strict majordomo, Malvolio.
