Two-Man Submarine background

Two-Man Submarine

On a secluded South Pacific Island, a groundbreaking medical breakthrough unfolds as scientists toil in secrecy to harness the extraordinary properties of a newly discovered mold, ultimately yielding the life-changing antibiotic penicillin in their laboratory.

In this film, a scientist on a South Pacific island is producing penicillin from jungle mold, a new and highly sought-after medicine. A guard, Tom Neal, is tasked with protecting the scientist's work, but his main goal is to leave the island and engage in combat against the Japanese. When a plane is spotted, Neal prepares to defend the island, but it turns out to be a plane carrying Ann Savage, his replacement. Later, a man washes ashore, and the group accepts him as a crewman from a torpedoed American ship. When the scientist is murdered, Neal suspects one of the island's inhabitants - Ann Savage, Dr. Naish, or Abner Biberman - of being involved in the crime, possibly working for the Axis powers to steal the penicillin formula.
