A gang attempts to rob Haldain, but Jim and Walla Walla thwart their plan. Haldain is discovered to be carrying stuffed animals filled with gold, and the gang's leader, Cutting, a banker, seeks to get his hands on the treasure. Cutting intercepts Jim's mail, alters one of his letters, and sends Haldain's daughter to her father, ultimately leading the gang to the hidden gold field.
