What We Leave Behind

At 89, Julián embarks on one final bus ride to El Paso, Texas, to visit his daughters and grandchildren, a tradition he's maintained for decades. Back in rural Mexico, he secretly builds a new house next to his home. As his physical visits dwindle, the new house becomes a symbol of connection with his loved ones. Over several years, the director films her grandfather's construction project, uncovering his previously unspoken memories and revealing the daily routines and poetic moments of his life.
