Alan O'Connor, a G-Man, is tasked by the United States Immigration Service to track down a smuggling ring that brings in Orientals to the U.S. in violation of the Chinese Exclusion Act. He meets a reporter, Bobbie Reynolds, who mistakes him for a New York actor in search of a movie job in Hollywood. O'Connor joins her plan to introduce him to producers, hoping to get a lead on the ring's leaders, who are operating as an independent movie company.
