In this prequel to the popular TV series, a young Hercules tries to win Zeus' approval by retrieving something stolen by his half-brother Ares. After losing the item, he becomes despondent, but his mother Alcmene encourages him to attend a warrior academy led by centaur Cheiron. There, he reunites with friend Iolaus and meets Jason, the heir to Corinth's throne. When Jason's father falls ill, Hercules suggests they seek the Golden Fleece, which might save him, but Ares is determined to thwart their efforts.
