A teenage boy named Chris is forced to move from his rural farm to the city with his family, but he's devastated to leave behind his beloved pet mountain lion, Sunshine. Chris decides to send Sunshine to the local zoo, where the staff, including Dr. Hartwood, Isobel, and Branch, care for the animals. However, Chris is heartbroken to see Sunshine struggling in his new environment and begins to contemplate breaking him out. As he observes the other caged animals, Chris starts to think about liberating them all, but he doesn't fully consider the consequences of his actions.
