In Autumn 1941, Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, a former schoolgirl, joined a sabotage school. Her partisan detachment was ambushed, and she was captured by the Germans while attempting to set fire to a barn. Despite brutal interrogations and torture, Zoya refused to reveal any information that could compromise her fellow operatives. Her sacrifice was not in vain, as it inspired millions and ultimately aided Soviet soldiers in reaching Berlin.
