British musician Rupert Street is determined to write a stage musical and get married by his 30th birthday in six weeks. He signs a contract with his agent Oscar to hire a crew to stage the musical, and sets his sights on Louise Hammond, a young woman who has just moved into his rooming house, despite her already having a boyfriend.
