Abdul the Damned background

Abdul the Damned

The Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II navigates a treacherous period, resisting the rising power of the Young Turk movement as he becomes increasingly enthralled by an enchanting Austrian opera singer.

In 1908, Sultan Abdul Hamid faces a revolt by the Young Turk party. He allows Hilmi Pasha to return from exile and form a constitutional government. Tensions escalate as Kadar Pasha assassinates Hassan Bey, making it seem like a Young Turk did it, allowing Abdul to arrest the Young Turk leaders.
