A lone cowboy rescues a man from a burning cave, only to discover he's a member of a gang of rustlers. As a token of gratitude, the gang inducts the cowboy into their ranks, giving him a green armband to signify his new status. Meanwhile, the cowboy's love interest reports him to the sheriff when her family's cattle are stolen, unaware that the sheriff is secretly pining for her and hiding a dark secret: he's the leader of the very rustler gang they're trying to bring down.
