A young girl named Hiyoko dreams of becoming an artist like her mother, but her father has other plans for her. When she discovers that he's removed all her mother's paintings from the house, she's furious and decides to run away. With nowhere else to go, she finds herself at Asylum Stadium, an abandoned field where many homeless people live, but it's soon to be demolished by the government. It's there that she meets Akira, a peculiar individual with the extraordinary ability to fly.
