A disillusioned Japanese tourist discovers a new sense of purpose when he meets a 15-year-old girl left behind in Hong Kong, leading to a transformative journey.

A young Japanese tourist, Tokio, visits Hong Kong in search of exceptional cuisine, but is initially underwhelmed by the food. His fortunes change when he befriends a 15-year-old girl named Pui Wai, who is being cared for by her 80-year-old grandmother while her parents deal with immigration issues in Canada. Despite their cultural, linguistic, and age differences, Tokio forms a strong bond with the grandmother, a skilled Hong Kong cook, and uncovers the secrets of her culinary expertise.
