A young Black man, Gary, seeks to overcome his inherited fear of the outdoors, which was rooted in the painful history of Black Americans being denied access to explore and even being killed for venturing outside. He decides to tackle the 2,600-mile Pacific Crest Trail, a six-month journey from Mexico to Canada, with the support of his partner Mary.
