A World War II veteran, struggling to make ends meet, crosses paths with a young punk who tries to mug him. After a violent confrontation, the two find themselves in the same hospital ward, where the punk is haunted by regret for his actions and tries to make amends with the veteran, who is still grappling with his own traumatic past.
