Captain China, a seasoned sailor, is rescued from a shipwreck and later accused of dereliction of duty after his former first mate and aides testify against him. To clear his name, he boards a new ship commanded by his accuser, Brendensen. As they navigate treacherous waters, both men develop feelings for a passenger, Kim Mitchell. When a fierce storm hits, Brendensen's cowardice forces him to hand over command to Chinnough, ultimately aiding in his former captain's redemption.
